3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6. Beds: one king, one room with two doubles, and one double. Updated kitchen with gas stove. Views of the east and west branches of the Westport River from the house.
Two structures on the property: the main house (yours) and the boathouse (the family's). The Longs come and go for the boats throughout the season. You'll see them sliding open the barn door from the front or walking down the pathway on the right side to get to the water from the back. The backyard extends to the river. Shared space, plenty of room. Guest parking on the left side of the driveway; the right side stays clear for the family.
Swim off the dock. There's a ladder for getting in and out. No diving. There is a rock to the northwest of the dock and it gets shallow in spots. There is a channel about six feet out. At high tide it is great. Floats are available for lounging in the water off the dock.
Everyone wears life jackets.Know the water. It looks easy, it's not always easy. Know the tide. Check the tides before going out. The water is tidal with real current in the channel. Rules of the road on the water matter.
Kayaks, a one-person canoe, and a Sunfish sailboat are available on request. Just ask so we can get you set up. Time your paddle with the tide and stick to the edges. Ship Rock in the East Branch is a great kayak destination. The marsh across from the dock is a calm, easy paddle.
Dock space is available at $4/foot/night. If you're bringing a small boat, there may be room at the dock. Ask ahead.
