• East Beach — Rocky, quiet, campfires at night. Worth the drive just to see it.

On the Water

• Kayaking the river — Kayaks and a one-person canoe at the house. Stick to the edges, not the channel. Ship Rock in the East Branch is a great destination.
• Swimming off the dock — Ladder in and out. No diving. Floats available.
• Fishing — Cast a line from the town fishing pier, steps from the house.
• Wednesday folk music — Musicians gather at the fishing dock every Wednesday evening in summer. Bring a chair.

• Newport Polo — Saturdays all summer. 35 minutes.
• Newport Mansions — The Breakers, Marble House, Cliff Walk. 35 minutes.
• Tiverton Four Corners — Shops, galleries, Groundswell Cafe. 15 minutes.
• Fall River — Portuguese restaurants, Battleship Cove, Narrows Center for the Arts. 20 minutes.

• Roadside farm stands — Adamsville Road and the back roads. Seasonal. The corn and tomatoes in August are worth the trip.

• Westport Rivers Winery — Sunset Music Series, Fridays in summer. Wine, food trucks on site.

• Fourth of July fireworks over the harbor. Walk down from the house.
